The Remembrance of ANZAC

ANZAC Day is 25 April each year, when we make a march or parade to remember the brave men and women who have served our country in times of war.

ANZAC stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps. Australia soldiers are called Diggers. They bravely fought against enemies in World War One. There were so many heroes in the war, and Simpson was one of them. He put wounded soldiers on the donkey Duffy's back and sent them to the first aid tent. Till now, the story of "Simpson and his donkey " is often told.

Most countries have so many people who work in the army, the navy and the air force--those are called "Defence Forces". They defend or keep the country and the people safe. On ANZAC Day, we wear the ANZAC badges and go to the march in the town and wave the Australian flag to thank the people who have defended the country and show our pride. At the same time, some people can say the famous poem "the Ode":

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

As the saying of the poem"At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them", we lay the flowers and the wreaths on the bottom of the war memorials for remembering the people who sacrifice themselves in order to defend the country and the people.
